Bio

Sean Vegezzi is an artist and researcher who has examined urban topographies and infrastructures through image-making, site-specific installation, sculpture, and writing. Vegezzi's practice begins from lived experience and investigates civic life, urban development, and security architecture and policy in relation to personal and subjective issues of autonomy, privacy, and security.

Currently, their research centers on Rikers Island, an offshore jail complex in New York City, stemming from a personal experience with a family member’s incarceration there. Their Vernon C. Bain Center Archive project focuses on global, interconnected maritime geographies and the administration of state power.

Additionally, Vegezzi is completing an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree in urban studies, psychology, and politics at The New School, graduating in fall 2025.
